What are the best Christmas movies when traveling? (The answer might surprise you!)

These Christmas movies are all festive picks for travelers this year.
HOME ALONE - Eight year old Kevin MacAllister (Macaulay Culkin) gets lost in the shuffle as his large, upper-middle class suburban family rushes to make a plane that will ferry them off to their Christmas vacation in France; Kevin, having been banished to an attic room as punishment, is subsequently forgotten. At first this is a dream come true, as for the first time in his young life he has no one to answer to but himself, and he takes full advantage of his newfound freedom, eating junk food

When it comes to traveling, the Christmas season is a time when people are on planes, trains, and cars to get where they need to go. The one great thing about traveling is being able to watch a movie if you're not driving.

Thankfully, the Pittsburgh Airport Parking team from the AirportParkingReservations took a deep dive into the top festive flicks to watch while traveling. Honestly, there are so many great Christmas movies out there so this couldn't have been easy.

You can find the full info on the website but we're going to be sharing the top movies to watch while you're traveling. Starting off with the top pick for travelers, it is none other than the classic 1990's film: Home Alone. Starring Macaulay Culkin, this one garnered a full 27% of the votes in Pennsylvania and honestly, I can see why.

While Home Alone might not be a favorite Christmas movie, it's a great one for the whole family. It can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. There's just something so joyful about that during the holiday season so Home Alone coming in at the #1 spot was not a surprise.

What other Christmas films do Pennsylvanians enjoy?

Unsurprisingly, another family favorite Christmas film is at the #2 spot and that's How The Grinch Stole Christmas. This is the 2000 release featuring Jim Carrey as the Grinch. Given how many Grinch films there are, it's honestly not hard to imagine one making the list. Once again, this is a fun one to watch even if you only watch it once during the Christmas season.

Then at the #3 spot is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. This one got 18% of the votes and since this is my favorite Christmas movie, I'm surprised it wasn't higher. However, the 1989 release does have its fans. Either way, it's one of those Christmas films you can't help but want to back to every single year.

These next two films are tied with 17% each which are Elf and The Polar Express. These are two modern classics and Christmas films most people have grown up with. No matter how you feel about Will Ferrell, there is no denying just how great he is as Buddy the Elf. Then we have Tom Hanks and his various roles in The Polar Express. The Polar Express recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in November which proves just how beloved it is.

While this was only talking about Pennsylvania, the AirportParkingReservations team did an entire look at the USA which you can find on the website. However, the one thing I want to note is that Home Alone was the top pick for the entire US which is pretty darn impressive. No matter which Christmas film is in your top five, there is no denying the lasting legacy of these films.
