It's another crazy week in video game news, and let's just get started with the biggest one out there, because we all knew it was right around the corner.

The PlayStation 5 Pro releases!

Yes, the mid-gen update of the PS5 is here! The PlayStation 5 Pro was officially released on November 7th. And unlike when the PS5 launched in 2020, you can buy this one literally everywhere.

It's not that the product is bad by any means. It's a solid mid-generation update for Sony's latest console. There's a lot of games that have already been optimized for the PS5 Pro. The problem is the price point of $700 and that doesn't include a disc drive or even the stand if you wanted to place it vertically in your house.

All that being said, if you gave up on trying to find a PS5 over the last four years and are finally ready to commit, the PS5 Pro is a solid buy.

Stardew Valley 1.6 releases on consoles

Yes, console gamers rejoice, for Stardew Valley's 1.6 update officially launched on consoles (Switch, PlayStation, Xbox) on Monday, November 4th. It's a massive update to the farming sim that console gamers have been waiting for since Concerned Ape launched it on PC back in March. This also hopefully means that he'll head back to work on The Haunted Chocolatier.

Also we would like to point out a glitch in the game for this 1.6 update. If you start a brand new game with the new type of farm where you start with a chicken coop and two chickens: DO NOT OPEN THE COOP DOOR ON DAY ONE. There's a glitch where they disappear that is still being fixed. I found this out the hard way. Don't make my mistake.

Cult of the Bell

This isn't really news, but a really funny and cute video that I stumbled on made by 64 Bits that combines Cult of the Lamb with Animal Crossing. It's amazing.

Remedy is still making gains with Alan Wake 2

It's slow progress, but Remedy Entertainment is still selling with Alan Wake 2. In their quarterly update to investors, they announced that the sequel has almost recouped its developmental and marketing budget. It's still their fastest-selling game, and with the two DLCs now officially out and a physical release (with the holidays right around the corner), we'd expect these numbers to keep climbing.

After all, it's not a loop, it's a spiral.

Microsoft November Game Pass Lineup

If you're a Game Pass subscriber, you've got your first round of free games for November. The highlights include Goat Simulator Remastered, StarCraft, and day one launches of Metal Slug Tactics and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Surprise! Death Stranding is now on Xbox

Literally out of the blue on November 7, Kojima Productions announced that you can now play Death Stranding on Xbox! Five years to the day since it launched on the PlayStation 4! It's also 50% off.

Nintendo Switch games will be backwards compatible on the Switch 2

But no, we still don't know when the Switch 2 is coming out. This shouldn't be surprising news either, as I feel like the entire internet would have revolted if we couldn't play Switch games on the successor. They also announced that Nintendo Switch Online will also be available on the new console.

Which, yes, will be announced at a later date. Sometime before March 2025.
