Video game news is coming in hot this week and we are all over the map on good news and bad news and releases!

Of course, we always seem to miss some really big news from last week, so let's catch up with...

Annapurna Interactive quitting

Yes, that was the big news at the end of last week we missed including. Apparently, discussions between Annapurna founder and Annapurna Interactive president stalled out when they were attempting to spin out the gaming section as its own standalone company. The entire staff decided to walk out and didn't make the decision lightly.

Remedy Entertainment came out and said that this does not affect Control 2 or any of their TV/movie plans that they just signed with Annapurna Pictures, as it's a separate entity.

We're not sure where this leaves Annapurna Interactive in the interim while they find a new staff. We wish all of those employees who quit the best of luck in their future endeavors!

Palworld getting sued by Pokémon

Did it feel like Palworld took over the gaming community in a flash flood and then just... kind of dropped off the face of the earth? It's still an early access game, but the hype around it was real... and comparisons were drawn very early on about how its monster designs resembled a lot of our pocket monster friends.

Well, the time has finally come: Palworld is getting sued by The Pokemon Company for infringing upon "multiple patent rights." You can Google Translate Nintendo's official statement here for more information. We'll just sit tight and see what happens now!

Switch 2 leaks run rampant

It's an insane week to be a Nintendo fan, especially if you're wracking the internet for any morsel of news on the next Nintendo console (I'm still petitioning for the Super Nintendo Switch as its name).

It's ramped up to 11 this week with alleged leaked photos of what the console will look like, rumors that it's going to be dual displays a la the DS and 3DS handheld models, that China is mass-producing them as we speak. The leaked photos also claim it will have 12GB of RAM (the original Switch has 4GB) and 256GB of internal storage (the original Switch has 32GB).

Take it all with a hefty grain of salt, as they're just rumors and nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo (and we doubt Nintendo will confirm anything until their official announcement).

New game releases this week

We've got some good we've been keeping our eyes on this week. First up is one we can't wait to get our hands on: The Plucky Squire. It's getting solid reviews across the board.

Another big release this week is the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster which was a surprise announcement just a few months ago. As always, Gameranx has a thorough "Before You Buy" on it!

And the last big release this week is Frostpunk 2, the city-building survival sequel. Again, check out the Before You Buy if you want some input before you spend the money.

One last Jedi game

This is one of those less formal events and more for actual investors, but EA still gave us some good nuggets of information regarding future releases. Kotaku has a round-up of some of the bigger headlines, but the one we're most interested in is that the third and final Jedi game is actively in development.

This means that Cal Kestis's story will end in a trilogy. Which feels very fitting for the Star Wars universe. Jedi: Survivor made our list of games you should have played in 2023, so we can't wait to see what the final game has in store.

PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection

Sony came out and announced a 30th Anniversary Collection includes a limited edition version of the PS5 digital version that uses the original PlayStation colors, themed DualSense wireless controller, a cover for the sold-separately disc drive, and a poster, to name a handful of things.
