The Last of Us season 2 official teaser trailer dropped!
September 26 is unofficially The Last of Us Day according to the television show, based on the video game of the same name, September 26, 2003, is when the end of the world begins. It also happens to be, the main character Joel Miller's, birthday.
Ouch... Although there has been a small teaser about the second season releasing sometime in 2025, the official teaser dropped this afternoon.
What happens in The Last of Us official teaser?
Over the course of barely two minutes, we get a lot of glimpses into the new season. We see Jackson thriving but the target of a horde of fast-moving and violent clickers.
We see the strain of Elle and Joel's relationship as she tends to seek the comfort of friend Dina, and the guitar Joel has taught her how to play. Throughout the teaser, hints of time jumps run just as rampant as the dangers outside Jackson's walls, which includes the highly anticipated and dreaded arrival of Abby.
New faces move on to the heartfelt moments shared between Tommy and Maria. And the bitter cold landscape of Wyoming is quite the unforgiving landscape.
But amidst all of this Joel is being pressured to confess in a therapy session we can only assume Tommy recommended he attend. Joel's decision to spare Ellie's life and kill the Fireflies during the season 1 finale are coming back to haunt him.
But will his decision also cost the lives of several others in Jackson as well? The Last of Us has been a triumph for HBO and MAX, proving that video game adaptations can be as successful if not better than most television shows currently on air.
The show has received countless nominations and even earned Pedro Pascal (Joel Miller) a coveted SAG Award for Male Actor in a Drama Series, beating heavy contenders such as Matthew Macfayden (Succession) and Billy Crudup (The Morning Show).
Poetic, bone-chilling, and downright suspenseful, The Last of Us season 2 teaser reminds us that no matter how safe one thinks they are in the apocalypse, danger is never, truly far away. You can watch the official teaser below!
