The Air He Breathes is a showstopper from Brittainy Cherry

Brittainy Cherry is one of those romance authors you know will crush your soul in the best way. That’s why I knew I had to feature The Air He Breathes after Sourcebook Casablanca picked it up.

While the series has been around for a while, seeing it get picked up is even more exciting. Plus I hadn’t picked up anything from Brittainy Cherry before now.

Considering that Cherry now publishes both indie and traditional, she’s one of those authors who is constantly surprising you. With her Elements series though, this feels like something completely different than what I’ve been imagining it to be.

With that being said, I’d like to thank Sourcebooks Casablanca for sending me an ARC and finished copy as I adored this book.

The Air He Breathes is a showstopping series starter.

If you look at the synopsis for the book, it doesn’t give away much but I want to share some minor plot details to help set the scene. This story follows Lizzie who is reeling from loss and Tristian who is also reeling from his own loss. In a way, this story feels like two souls coming together when they need it most.

Whether you’ve read Brittainy Cherry or not, you probably know that her romances are always extremely emotional. This one is no different and frankly, it was a lot to handle at times. This book deals a lot with grief and is at times, extremely hard to read as these characters are doing their best but it doesn’t come without consequences.

While I don’t think this book will appeal to all readers, The Air He Breathes truly captivated me from the very first page. Despite the tough subject matter, I couldn’t help but root for Tristan and Lizzie as characters and eventually, as a couple. As long as you can handle the subject matter and are in the right headspace to read The Air He Breathes, this is a book you shouldn’t put off reading.

Considering that it’s also the start of Brittainy Cherry’s Elements series, I think this is the best entry point to see if you like her storytelling and her writing. Since it was my first book by her, I can confidently say that I adored this book and can’t wait to read more from Brittainy Cherry.
