Based upon Google Trends, this study used not only those trends but also IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes to help put this list together. Honestly, there are so many great movies on the list so I won't waste any more time, talking.
At the very top of the list is none other than A Christmas Story. Released in 1983, this is a look back at Ralphie's Christmas and him telling us the story. This movie is a classic for a reason was searched in 8 states including Maryland, West Virginia, and Idaho. I mean there's a reason why this one is on a 24-hour-loop as it's just that good and a great one to watch with the whole family.
Following close behind at #2 is 2003's Elf. This is a modern classic and is a Christmas movie everyone has thoughts on. Whether you love it or hate it, there is no denying just how amazing Will Ferrell is in this Christmas flick. Some of the states that loved it were Georgia, Alaska, and Texas. I'm honestly surprised New York didn't love this one.
Coming in at #3, we have National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Released in 1989, this is the fun, old-fashioned Griswold family Christmas and boy is it a treat. Honestly, this is my favorite Christmas movie and I rewatch it every year. A few states searched for this one including South Dakota, Maine, and unsurprisingly, Illinois.
Sharing the #3 spot is another big one and that's 2000's How The Grinch Stole Christmas. This one stole the hearts of many a state including Alabama, Hawaii, Ohio, and Washington. What a pair of movies to be tied as they're both such great modern Christmas classics.
Moving onto some other movies that made the cut, people were searching for Almost Christmas, Home Alone, Bad Santa, The Polar Express, and even, Krampus. Regardless of what type of Christmas movie you're a fan of, there was something for everyone on the list.
