There is something so utterly comforting about grilled cheese and if you love them, you might want to celebrate now as it's National Grilled Cheese Month. Thankfully, Pepperidge Farm is here to share the facts.

When it comes to grilled cheese, everyone has a preference and in honor of that, Pepperidge Farm decided to share the facts. Whether you're the one cooking them or eating them or both, there's a reason why the food has an entire month.

With that being said, I wanted to include some of the findings shared by Pepperidge Farm, and the most notable fact is that Americans eat an average of 36 grilled cheese sandwiches a year. Of course, that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Thankfully, Pepperidge Farm has the makings to ensure you have a good base as 57% of Americans enjoy their grilled cheese on white bread. If you're on the hunt for some, you could also go with the Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse Hearty White Bread.

As you can see, white bread reigns supreme for grilled cheese lovers but sourdough also got 24% of the votes while wheat got 23%. Moving onto the other important aspect of a grilled cheese and that's what you're grilling it with. Unsurprisingly, 70% of people use butter while 20% prefer mayo.

If you couldn't tell, the classic grilled cheese is reigning supreme and Pepperidge Farm only confirms that with further data. 60% of people prefer to make their grilled cheese in a regular pan while 34% prefer a cast-iron skillet. Last but not least, the most crucial question is how people are cutting their grilled cheese and 52% of people are cutting it in half, diagonally. Meanwhile 21% are cutting it in half vertically.

Regardless of how you're cutting your grilled cheese or how often you're eating one, Pepperidge Farm confirmed all of our suspicions. There is nothing like enjoying a tasty grilled cheese made in a pan with white bread and butter. If anything, it proves just how timeless the food is and the reason why it deserves an entire month.

Whether you're pairing your grilled cheese with your soup of choice or enjoying it as a midnight snack, Pepperidge Farm wants to know what you think. You can share your grilled cheese thoughts including your preferences by tagging @pepperidgefarm on social media. No matter how you're celebrating National Grilled Cheese Month, there's truly nothing wrong with keeping it classic.
