Next to You is a delightful friends-to-lovers romance
There are certain authors you hear about and know you want to read. One of those was Hannah Bonam-Young who just came out with Next To You.
Even though the author doesn’t have many works, the ones she has out are brilliant with 3 being republished by Dell. Next of Kin was re-released and given a new cover upon its release in February and now, Next to You is following the trend.
Originally, I had plans to cover both of the books, but time got away from me so I wanted to make sure I still showed some love to Next of Kin. It’s a romance between Chloe and Warren who are paired up as a way to prove that they’re fit to be guardians for their respective siblings.
While a romance seems unlikely at first, the two end up being unable to hide their feelings and it goes from there. Even though I did enjoy this one, I don’t think anything will hold a candle to Next to You.
Next to You is a friends-to-lovers dream from Hannah Bonam-Young.
Let me start by first thanking Dell for putting this one on my radar because I absolutely adored this book. If you couldn’t tell, this ended up being one of my favorites of the month and possibly the whole year.
Next to You follows the romance between Lane and Matt who are side characters in Next of Kin. This time, we’re following them as they become even closer friends as they’re the two in the friend group who aren’t part of a couple and honestly, this book truly made me fall in love with Hannah-Bonam Young’s romances.
What I adored most about Next to You is how hopelessly in love these two are but they just won’t get it together. All you want to do is scream at them and shake them to be better but you know it’s a process. It’s a journey that both of these characters are on so you have to be patient but it feels like your heart is being ripped out.
If that’s not enough, Next to You has a ton of amazing tropes aside from friends-to-lovers as Lane and Matt are working together to build a bus that Lane is going to live on. There’s some forced promixit with that, a dash of friends-with-benefits and even, a road trip. All in all, this felt like an embarrassment of riches in the best way.
Normally, I wouldn’t gush as much about a romance book, but there was something about Next to You that just spoke to me. Considering that I was dealing with a lot of stress, the romance between Matt and Lane just felt like a warm hug. These two were perfectly messy, flawed, and truly soulmates in every sense of the word.
If you like friends-to-lovers and you haven’t picked up this book yet, then you need to add Next to You to your TBR.
Next to You by Hannah Bonam-Young is out now where books are sold.
