Grab these 8 snacks for the ultimate camping experience
Summer is almost upon us and while some are planning a relaxing beach vacation, others are planning a summer camping trip. One thing you can't forget, though? It's snacks!
While camping can tend to get a bad rep, things aren't nearly as rough as they used to be. Whether you're springing for a luxury tent and air mattress or renting a cabin, camping can be whatever you make it but food is something you always have to bring with you.
Unless you're planning to catch or hunt your food, you'll have to make sure you have plenty of supplies. Whether you want something sweet, salty, or both, we've got a list of some snacks that have been released this year worth bringing along to your camping trip.
Frankly, there are so many great options out there for all my fellow foodies so if you don't like these, don't be afraid to swap them out for something else but let's get into our list.
These 8 snacks are absolute must-haves for summer camping!
1. Club's Crips flavored with Mike's Hot Honey
This first product was one I tried and knew that it would be a hit for hot honey fans. I was sent this in a PR package so I'd like to thank my lovely rep, Samantha for sending these my way. While they were slightly too spicy for me, these would go great if you're making a charcuterie board if you're in a cabin or are planning to have a picnic. They might even pair up with some wine and cheese so you could have some wine, cheese, and crackers as an afternoon or midnight snack.
2. Nutri-Grain Power-Fulls
The next item is for those wanting something for breakfast or a great hiking snack. For that, I decided to feature the Nutri-Grain Power-Fulls. While most of us think of the Nutri-Grain bars, these are soft-baked oat bars complete with 8 grams of protein. They also come in two different flavors which are Strawberry and Chocolate Chip so you have options. You could even add these to your cereal or even in with your trail mix for a little bit of something extra.
3. Planter's Salt & Vinegar Cashews
Next up, we have another snack you can take on the go and that's Planter's Salt & Vinegar Cashews. I cannot personally vouch for these as I'm allergic to tree nuts. However, they didn't even last a day in my house so I think that proves enough. These will no doubt be a unique flavor and hopefully give you that little burst of energy you're looking for. Plus these would probably be great for adding to that charcuterie board I mentioned previously as well.
4. Oscar Mayer Stuffed Dogs
As we're getting to the halfway point, I figured I'd include something that is a camping staple and that's hot dogs. These aren't just any hot dogs though as they're Oscar Mayer's new Stuffed Dogs, making camping even more fun. These come in three flavors which are Jalapeno Cheddar, Chili Cheese and Cheese. Given just how fun it is to drill hot dogs around the fire, I feel like these would be a great twist on a classic.
Coupled with the fact that they're stuffed, it eliminates some of the toppings you could have grabbed and helps you save space. Plus if you get all three, you can try all of them without getting sick of any one flavor.
5. ONE Protein Bars
If you're someone who is only staying for a day and doesn't want to cook, then no one will fault you for just packing a few protein bars. That's why I had to feature ONE Protein Bars. Each bar features 20 grams of protein and comes in a variety of different flavors. Featured above is Birthday Cake, but you can also find S'mores, Peanut Butter Cup, and Cinnamon Roll.
For those who don't want a sweet protein bar, ONE also has PUFFS which are flavored Spicy Nacho and Shreddin' Cheddar. No matter which one you decide to go with, you'll still be getting a dose of protein which is exactly what you need when you're camping or spending time, outdoors.
6. The Original Circus Animal Cookies from Mother's Cookies
Last but not least, we're ending this list off with some sweets and one of those is The Original Circus Animal Cookies from Mother's Cookies. I feel like this is a great snack if you're bringing little ones along or just need something sugary but not overwhelming. These are crunchy, sweet, and tasty, making them the perfect thing to keep in your backpack or something to add to your trail mix pack.
If you're not a fan of the original, you're in luck as there is one other variety. This one definitely appeals more toward kids but it's Sparking Mythical Creatures Cookies from Mother's Cookies. This bag features cookies in the shape of mermaids, dragons and much more.
7. SmartsSweets Candies
Of course, not everyone wants something as sugary and for those who crave a sweet treat, then SmartSweets has you covered. The brand recently revamped some of its most popular flavors with new recipes. The treats that are new and improved are the Peach Rings, Sweet Fish, Sour Blast Buddies, and Sourmelon Bites. I don't know about you, but that picture looks so good that I'm about to head to the store and grab a few bags to try.
These could also be a great way to end the night if you're craving something sweet. This might also be the best thing to give kids as an after-dinner treat. Of course, you can always keep some for yourself, too. We'll never tell!
8. Hershey Bars
Of course, no camping trip is complete without s'mores and what's the best chocolate for making s'mores? It's Hershey's. You can go the classic route by using the beloved Hershey bars which are featured above. If you're looking for a fun twist, you can use a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup or even, a Hershey's Cookies 'N' Creme bar. All in all, you simply cannot go wrong if you're using Hershey's chocolate to make your s'mores around the campfire.
