Bob's Burgers: 6 episodes to stream for Pride Month 2024
June is Pride Month and in honor of that, a lot of people are watching some queer movies or TV shows. That's why I wanted to talk about Bob's Burgers.
If you're new to the series, you might be wondering what makes Bob's Burgers a great show for Pride Month. It's a valid question as the series follows the Belcher family as they navigate the ups and downs of running a family business. That's not even including all the shenanigans that go with it.
In addition, the series has a lot of queer characters along with queer people working on its cast and crew. In a way, it feels beautiful to see these characters who reflect those who play such a huge role in the series. That's why I wanted to show some love to some episodes that either feature queer characters or talk about sexuality in some way.
No matter if you've loved Bob's Burgers for years or need something new to watch, then you're bound to enjoy these episodes.
Stream these 6 Bob's Burgers episodes during Pride Month.
1. Season 1, Episode 6: "Sheesh! Cab, Bob?"
Let me be honest and say that this episode has already been recommended by me twice. I wrote a post, talking about Father's Day and Bob's Burgers so this episode made the cut. If you haven't watched, the episode follows Bob who gets a nighttime job as a taxi driver to help pay for Tina's birthday party.
During his time as a driver, Bob ends up making friends with some sex workers and even invites them to Tina's party. Of course, this is also the episode where we meet Marshmallow who is a HUGE part of the Bob's Burgers world so I had to include this episode on the list.
2. Season 7, Episode 21: "Paraders of the Lost Float"
Skipping ahead a few seasons, there are plenty of great Bob's Burgers episodes but one that always comes to mind is "Paraders of the Lost Float." While this episode doesn't explicitly state that it's a queer episode, it just feels like it. If you've watched the episode, you'll know the energy I'm talking about.
If you haven't, this episode follows the Belcher family as they enter the "Bog to Beach" parade contest and they end up having a terrible time. Coupled with the dancing at the end, this truly feels like a low-key Pride parade in the best way.
3. Season 8, Episode 1: "Brunchsquatch"
Moving ahead to Season 8, I have to include "Brunchsquatch," because it introduces us to another queer side character and that's Dalton. Dalton meets the Belchers after he goes to the restaurant for brunch and it ends up being pretty chaos for everyone. Coupled with the changes in animation every few minutes, this episode is pure chaos but that's what makes it so great.
4. Season 10, Episode 17: "Just the Trip"
As previously mentioned, I wanted to include the intro to a few beloved queer characters but not this time. This time, I'm including the episode, "Just the Trip" featuring Nat, the limo driver. Nat was introduced in Season 10's Valentine's Day episode but it didn't feel right for this list. Instead, I decided to feature her episode which is "Just the Trip."
The episode focuses on Nat and the Belchers as they go to deliver a distressed snake to Nat's ex-girlfriend. Of course, things don't go as planned as the Belchers and Nat end up being involved in some shenanigans that only Bob's Burgers could pull off.
5. Season 14, Episode 3: "The Pickleorette"
Skipping ahead to Season 14, there were so many great episodes in the show's latest season. Most notably, one of those was "The Pickleorette." If you didn't know, Season 14 was a bit shorter due to the strikes going on at the time. With those now resolved, we have more Bob's Burgers to look forward to this fall.
While not an explicitly queer episode, "The Pickleorette" does feature Nat as Bob uses her limo to drive Gretchen's sister and her friends around. If anything, this episode proves just how proud Gretchen is and how beautiful her relationship with her sister is. It's also completely over the top and dramatic which is sometimes how Pride can be so I had to include it. Also there are strippers which makes it all the more fun.
6. Season 14, Episode 13: "Butt Sweats and Fears"
Wrapping up the list is the season 14 finale which was "Butt Sweats and Fears." Most of the episode focuses on Tina wanting some upper-butt contact with Jimmy Jr but ending up almost ruining the experience for herself. However, the other plotline in the episode is the Belchers using wooden pallets to build something and Teddy ends up building an underground restaurant.
Dalton ends up showing up and bringing along a ton of new customers. As great as it is, all good things must come to an end and the underground restaurant ends up closing before it can truly begin. Either way, there are so many great episodes with Dalton in them so I always have to include him.
Whether you're already a fan of Bob's Burgers or just want something new to watch for Pride Month, I think Bob's Burgers is always a great pick. The show is fun and fresh while still being slightly ridiculous in the best way.
