A Good Girl's Guide to Murder's limited series format keeps the show contained

Who killed Andie Bell? That is the question that Pip is determined to answer throughout the 6-episode mini-series. Although Andie's boyfriend Sal had already been declared guilty, Pip is determined to prove that this claim is wrong.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder makes good use of Emma Myers in the main role, as she portrays charisma that made her a fan-favorite on Wednesday. Emma Myers brings out Pip's determination, attitude, and internal guilt well as Pip portrays a mix of wanting to find the truth because she believes Sal was innocent and because she believed that by telling Sal where Andie was, that if Sal was guilty, Pip had accidentally played a role in Andie's death.

The crime is already years old, so Pip must rely on information from Andie and Sal's friends to get a proper understanding of what was happening in their lives at that point, the secrets Andie was hiding, and trying to unravel just how much of it truly played into the events that resulted in Andie's death.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder offers various potential suspects and works to make sure that its reveals are never too obvious to Pip or the audience in a way where unraveling the mystery is no longer fun. Although the show's decision to only have six episodes may prevent certain elements or connections from feeling like they could have been explored more, A Good Girl's Guide To Murder does not offer too many side plot threads, instead choosing to contain itself to its main mystery and how other characters are involved in the events that led to Andie's demise.

Choosing not to offer extra plot threads works two-fold. While it prevents the show from becoming too distracted by subplots, it also has the downside of making some of Pip's friends, who are supporting characters, come across as not being particularly fleshed out. The approach of keeping the mini series more focused certainly helps the main mystery, however, as the show's limited run time never allows it to spread itself too thin in order to accomadate so many different people.

Pip's connection to Ravi, Sal's younger brother, offers Pip more insight into Sal's life as well as a partner who is just as interested in solving this case as Pip. Offering Pip a connection to a character that is just as emotionally invested as she is allows their team-up investigations to come across as more genuinely wanting to clear Sal's name, rather than utilizing Pip's other friends who have no direct emotional connection to the crime.

Ultimately, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a fun and quick binge-worthy show that will make a potentially boring day a lot more entertaining.
