Miriam Mead: American Horror Story: Apocalypse (2018)

I sometimes wonder if Ryan Murphy calls actors and just says outright, “Hey, would you like to play a Satanist who gets recreated as a robot after being burned alive?” If so, there's no doubt Bates responded with enthusiastic agreement. Miriam Mead takes in the son of Satan and raises him to fulfill his purpose, more or less. Seeing her play a violent assassin, a violent automaton, and a violent Satanist is all worth the streaming time.

Officer Jane Cooper: King of the Hill (1997-2009)

Alright, this was a one-off appearance on a very long-running show. But like Alabaster or the driving instructor, Bates as the cop who sexually harasses Hank Hill—to his absolute horror—is unforgettable. The episode addresses double standards and is probably why she agreed to voice the character in the first place.

Mrs. Fowler: The Big Bang Theory (2007-2019)

Most married people could tell you that planning and executing a wedding is incredibly stressful—and that it’s the bride and groom’s parents who make it so. That’s certainly the case when Bates appears as the mother of the bride in the wedding episodes of Big Bang.
