This recap contains spoilers for Grey's Anatomy Season 21, episode 9 "Hit the Floor."

When you think about Grey's Anatomy, your mind likely immediately goes straight to disaster. And sure, some disastrous things do occur in the midseason return of the show. But in the end, everyone not only survives, but also ends up making mostly good choices. A rarity for many of these characters, but we'll take it. Let's break down the episode in full, storyline by storyline.

Amelia and Winston manage to get their patient through the complicated joint surgery, but she is left without any feeling in her legs. After another risky procedure, she does start to recover from the paralysis, but the two doctors agree they might not be the best candidates for working together in the future. Amelia is going to continue taking on high-risk cases, and Winston isn't sure he's going to be able to keep up with her.

Jo and the twins end up okay, but the stress of the situation has put all of them at risk for preterm labor or other complications. There is a procedure to prevent this, but Link is a panicked dad-to-be and doesn't want her to go through with it. Bailey kicks him out of the room because he's keeping Jo's blood pressure elevated, but ends up talking some sense into him before he returns. He and Jo are on the same page for the first time in what feels like forever, she gets the procedure done, and for now, this growing family lives happily ever after.

Owen ends up bringing his sister's childhood best friend and potentially rekindled flame back to the hospital because she's still experiencing pain after surgery. She admits to him that she's had a crush on him since she was a teenager, and they almost kiss (but don't start screaming at him just yet). Later, he delivers good news about her health but promptly removes himself from her care team after admitting she isn't the only one with feelings. He later almost mentions this to Teddy, but the two silently agree to drop it.

Warren is rightfully reprimanded for putting a potentially disastrous trauma protocol in place -- one he's later going to try (and fail) to patch up with Teddy. He spends most of the episode with Adams and actually ends up helping him through a panic attack related to the post-trauma of the armed robbery. In the end, though, Teddy doesn't want to hear his proposal for putting together an emergency protocol commitee. Warren is a resident on a trail basis, and she puts him in his place so he'll remember that next time he thinks about crossing a forbidden line.

Blue and his seemingly long-lost love seem to be ready to dive right back into their romance as if it never stopped. But a call from her could-be fiance reminds them both that things are more complicated than they might seem on the surface. Ultimately, he tells her he can't move forward with their relationship until she breaks things off with her boyfriend, no matter how much he might not want to wait.

And finally, Jules is still reeling from the sudden departure of her fellow intern-turned-love interest. So much so that she forgets to strap a patient down on the operating table and he falls off of it in the middle of surgery. Teddy absolutely tears into her but doesn't throw her out of the operating room, and she later approaches Weber to apologize.

The would-be shooter, who suffered nearly fatal wounds from his own bullet, ends up surviving surgery despite complications. Adams and Simone end the episode tangled in each others' arms after a terrible day, and Jules departs likely feeling more alone and withdrawn than ever. But for now, things are looking okay -- better than anyone expected after all of that.
