Consider going cruelty-free with your makeup in 2025

Once upon a time, cruelty-free products were for protesting vegans in the 2000s. Back then, you could walk into your favorite pink haired friend's bathroom and not only see cruelty-free Manic Panic but products even more obscure. Now it’s not just PETA activists that want cruelty-free products – it’s everyone.

Here’s a debriefing: Tests can be putting chemicals in an animal's eyes or even forcing them to inhale them. Animals are often killed after the testing. Some animals used are dogs, mice, and monkeys.

Here's a few brands that use chemicals that are safe and not tested on animals:

  • Nyx -- Nyx is a great drugstore brand with tons of makeup options!
  • ELF -- This brand is not only cruelty-free but vegan!
  • Rare Beauty -- If you’re into brands that support mental health and have great lip products, Rare Beauty might be the cruelty free product for you.
  • Monday -- They even have a dry shampoo for brunettes!
  • Colourpop -- For a fun night on the town, pick Colourpop.
  • Huda Beauty -- Like Colourpop, there's so many pretty eyeshadows to pick!
  • Lush Cosmetics -- Lush is great for luxurious bath products!
  • Fenty Beauty -- For a natural look for all skin complections, check out Fenty Beauty.
  • St. Ives -- A household name, St. Ives does a great job being affordable and accessible.
  • The Inkey List -- From aging cream to face wash for acne, The Inkey List is a go to.

These brands have the same products as companies that test on animals such as Maybelline and L’Oreal, so why not make the switch for your furry friends everywhere?
