Do Your Worst by Rosie Danan is fun, sexy and spooky.
Rosie Danan continues to dazzle after taking a 2-year break and returning with her newest release with Berkley: Do Your Worst.
Personally, I feel like I’ve been waiting even longer to read Do Your Worst yet it’s only been 2 years. Either way, this is her first foray into something other than The Shameless Series and it’s a lot to be excited about.
Maybe it was the cute cover that grabbed me or as I mentioned, the fact it’s felt like forever since we’ve gotten a book from Rosie Danan. When Berkley offered me a chance to read it early and then sent me a finished copy, I jumped at it.
I have to thank Berkley for sending me a copy and for allowing me to read one of my most anticipated romances of the year early.
Do Your Worst is a fun, spooky, and steamy time from Rosie Danan.
If you follow people who read romance, you’ll see all the hype around Do Your Worst and I’m here to say that it’s incredibly deserved. This book follows Riley Rhodes, a curse breaker who is hired to help break a curse at a famous Scottish castle. On her first night in town, she meets Clark and the two hit it off.
The next day, she finds out she’s “working” with Clark and he’s determined to get her fired. From there, it’s war as these two cannot stop going at each other. It’s honestly such a fun juxtaposition to see the fun-loving Riley go toe-to-toe with the stuffy Clark. While these two are “enemies” from the start, it’s clear they’re wildly attracted to each other and Rosie Danan makes sure we know it.
Ultimately what made me fall in love with Do Your Worst was the banter. These two verbally sparred with each other and it was so fun to watch. I truly couldn’t get enough of these two as they traded barbs back and forth. Aside from the romance, these two did end up working together to try to break the curse and find out which stories about the castle were true or not.
While it took a while for the two to finally get together, they truly made each other better. I also loved that this book didn’t feature a third-act-breakup. Once they understood each other, it’s like the romance clicked into place and I couldn’t get enough. Considering that I read this book in two sittings, Do Your Worst was one of my best of the month.
I did mention that this book was slightly spooky but it’s not scary. They’re working in a castle together and they even do some rituals. It can get a bit dicey but they end up having fun despite some mishaps. No matter, I couldn’t help but fall in love with this story and these characters.
