‘DWTS’ pro Sharna Burgess under fire for comments about Jesse Metcalfe
Dancing With the Stars pro Sharna Burgess is at the center of a controversy. The ballroom dancer joined the ABC competition series during Season 16 in March 2013. She’s been paired with many famous celebs and during Season 27 won the Mirrorball trophy with Bobby Bones.
During the debut episode of her fiancé Brian Austin Green’s podcast Old-ish, Burgess opened up about her time on the show. She revealed that her and Bones’ win was controversial and spurred hate from fans, who felt they didn’t deserve the trophy.
Because of the backlash, the producers didn’t ask Burgess to return for Season 28. The dancer took the time to unwind from all the negativity. When she was asked to come back for Season 29, she was in a better place.
However, Burgess was tested when she was paired with a partner she deemed as difficult.
"“They had me back the following season and I had a partner that was really difficult- and not to say too much because I don’t want to, but I wasn’t able to be in the room alone with him after the first couple of weeks because of things that happened. That was rocky and we were eliminated very quickly.”"
Jesse Metcalfe fires back at Sharna Burgess’ comments
Although Burgess never mentioned his name, it was obvious she was referring to actor Jesse Metcalfe. Burgess and the Desperate Housewives star were paired together during Season 29 and placed 12th in the competition.
When news spread of the Dancing With the Stars alum’s comments, Metcalfe fired back. The actor’s rep released a statement to People blasting the dancer’s vague allegations.
"“If she is referring to a time where our client Jesse Metcalfe worked with Ms. Burgess four years ago, the only recollection was that they didn’t get along. Vague insinuations are not only reckless but also irrelevant.”"
So far there’s been no response from Burgess.
