Nintendo always seems to have something up its sleeve. And while many of us were probably hoping for a Switch 2 announcement (especially given the recent rumors), the latest Nintendo Direct did give us plenty of games to look forward to over the coming months.

We rounded up the five best games that Nintendo announced at this direct. Let’s dive right in!

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is getting remade

Honestly, this is probably the biggest one announced, as it’s one of the best Paper Marios out there. Nintendo is bringing it to the Switch with updated HD graphics, and you can tell just by this quick trailer that it looks fantastic. It helps that the graphics aren’t anything a la God of War, but dang if those characters don’t look like legitimate cardboard cutouts come to life. It’s gonna be a grand time re-playing through this one.

It releases sometime in 2024.

Dave the Diver is coming to Switch on October 26th

You’re an overweight scuba diver named Dave tasked with supplying a startup sushi restaurant with its fish. And it just gets even more complicated from there. It’s a fish-catching roguelike and a restaurant simulator rolled into one (and doesn’t stop there). It introduces Sea People and an environmental catastrophe that’s affecting everyone and it’s up to Dave to help out.

I played it on the SteamDeck and had a grand time. If you liked Moonlighter, you’ll love Dave the Diver.

Tomb Raider I-III are being remastered

If you love the original Lara Croft games, then you’re in luck. She’s making her return to consoles in Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starting Lara Croft. The graphics are improved from their original releases, and here’s hoping the controls are updated for current controllers. When it was released on PC, it was a little rough to control.

Tomb Raider I-III releases on February 14, 2024.

Princess Peach: Showtime! gives us the Peach game we’ve always wanted

Teased in the last Nintendo Direct, Princess Peach finally gets to shine in her own game. Grape and the Sour Bunch show up at the Sparkle Theater to ruin a night at the theater. Peach and the theater’s guardian Stella are forced to step in and save the day. And it looks like Peach is going to get some excellent costumes/power-ups, like Detective Peach and Kung-Fu Peach. Can we hope for a Tanooki Peach…?

Princess Peach: Showtime! is slated to release on March 22, 2024.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is coming next year

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is coming to the Switch as a remake called Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. Originally released on the 3DS,  Luigi must King Boo again while collecting shards of the Dark Moon to restore peace for the ghosts of Evershade Valley. All of the Luigi’s Mansion games are their kind of charming, and we can’t wait to see how this one plays on Switch.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD releases next summer 2024.

dark. Next. Fourth-annual RazerCon 2023 returns on September 22nd

Even though this Nintendo Direct was mostly full of remakes and remasters, there’s still so much to look forward to. Let us know in the comments what’s on your to-play list!
