Britney Spears and Sam Asghari split after less than two years of marriage

Pop star Britney Spears is headed back to divorce court. The Toxic singer and her husband Sam Asghari have called it quits after 14 months of marriage.

The couple had been plagued by rumors of trouble in paradise. Reports of fighting and Asghari moving out surfaced along with photos of the pair without their wedding rings.

This will be Spears’ third divorce. She was previously married to her childhood friend Jason Alexander, and to Kevin Federline with whom she has two sons.

Spears and Asghari first met in 2016 when the model/fitness trainer was an extra in her Slumber Party music video. The couple began dating shortly afterward and Asghari seemed to be a good fit for the singer.

During Spears’ ongoing conservatorship battle with her father Jamie, Asghari supported his girlfriend.  In a heartfelt testimony during her June 2021 hearing, Spears expressed the trauma she endured under her father’s control. After a long, fought battle, Spears’ conservatorship was terminated in November 2021.

Spears and Asghari became engaged in September 2021 after five years of dating. The couple married on June 9, 2022, in a small, intimate ceremony with their celebrity pals Paris Hilton, Drew Barrymore, and Madonna in attendance.

Married life seemed to be going great for the couple, who shared their life via Instagram However, by 2023, rumors swirled about marital issues, but reps for the couple debunked the reports.

In June 2023, the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Asghari posted a loving tribute to his wife on Instagram, calling her “The woman of my dreams. Happy anniversary my love.”

Less than two months later Asghari filed for divorce, and according to Page Six, things could get ugly. Sources say that Asghari is trying to renegotiate their prenup and get a bigger settlement.
