If you didn’t know, the Amazon Prime original was originally a book written by Casey McQuiston. Despite being published years ago, the book was a massive deal upon its release.
It even won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Romance was unheard of at the time for queer books. If you’re unfamiliar with the book, it follows the first son of the president: Alex Claremont-Diaz, and Prince Henry who is a British prince.
While the two have an unlikely friendship turned relationship, it’s clear Red, White and Royal Blue means a lot to a lot of people and will continue to be in the hearts and hands of readers everywhere.
When was Red, White and Royal Blue originally released in book form?
Everyone knows that the Red, White and Royal Blue adaptation came out on August 11th but when did the book come out? RWRB’s original publication date was May 14th, 2019 and back then, it felt like a much simpler time, and in a way, it was.
With a queer and steamy romance at its heart, Red, White and Royal Blue quickly became a favorite among readers of all genres. Even if you weren’t a romance reader, there were lots of people who enjoyed this book. It all catapulted Casey McQuiston to fame, resulting in her writing more books.
In the book, you also get introduced to more characters and get some stories you might have missed in the film. Ultimately with adaptations, there’s only so much you can add in. All in all, it seems like we’re going to see a resurgence in the sale and love for the Red, White and Royal Blue book due to the adaptation.
