A familiar face from the world of Mister Rogers Neighborhood will be seen in the upcoming season of the PBS puppet series Donkey Hodie. The show was renewed for a second season and was slated to premiere in spring 2023 but was instead delayed to August 14, 2023.

The show follows the charming adventures of Donkey Hodie (played by puppeteer Haley Jenkins) and her best friends, Purple Panda (played by Frankie Cordero), Bob Dog (played by David Rudman) and Duck Duck (played by Stephanie D’Abruzzo). Donkey Hodie lives in the land of Someplace Else and is the granddaughter of the original Donkey Hodie from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, which aired on PBS from 1968 to 2001. Donkey Hodie is a co-production from Fred Rogers Productions and Spiffy Pictures (Nature Cat, Frankie and Frank, Scooby-Doo! Adventures: The Mystery Map).

Donkey Hodie season 2 will re-introduce Trolley, a character from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, but this time, we see Trolley imagined as a real, moving character. Kristin DiQuollo, supervising producer of Donkey Hodie says of the decision to include Trolley, “It is the first time a full-scale trolley will have full-scale puppets riding on it. It was a major challenge but one the whole team was excited to take on.”
