Taylor Swift: Ranking the five singles from Lover
1. “Cruel Summer”
I’m sure all of us knew we’d be here. I knew we’d be here as soon as Taylor Swift announced “Cruel Summer” was going to be a single. If you’re a Taylor Swift fan or even if you aren’t and attended the Eras tour, I’m sure her singing “Cruel Summer” is seared into your mind. As someone who didn’t attend, I’ve been thinking about it every day since.
No matter if you were able to attend or not, there is no denying the impact of “Cruel Summer.” I mean it’s a single from an album released almost 4 years ago now, how could it not make the top spot on my list? Plus I feel like we as Taylor Swift fans know how important that bridge is no matter what you’re doing.
If you’re listening in the car, if you’re cleaning, or if you’re at a concert, you are screaming the bridge for “Cruel Summer” at the top of your lungs. If you aren’t, you’re really doing that song a disservice. Personally, I’m hoping Taylor decides to release a music video for it but I’m sure she’s more focused on working on new projects and re-releasing her old albums.
Either way, ranking all the songs from Lover has been my favorite to do so far. From here, we only have a few albums left so it’s going to be a lot of fun to look back at how different the rest of Taylor Swift’s discography is. Then again, it’s always a good time to rank the vault tracks so maybe you’ll see that happen.
