Disney Junior has a new show happening under the sea! The network greenlit a new animated series entitled Ariel, coming to all Disney platforms in 2024! The series is inspired by Disney’s newest live-action version of The Little Mermaid franchise which is still completing its box office run domestically and internationally. The series was announced by Disney Branded Television on day 3 of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in Annecy, France.

Ariel is being executive produced by Lynne Southerland (Happily Ever After). Norma P. Sepulveda (Elena of Avalor) and Keith Wagner (TrollsTopia) serve as story editors. Ezra Edmond serves as producer with Kuni Tomita Bowen (Dora the Explorer) as its supervising director, and Chrystin Garland (Solar Opposites) as its art director.

Viewers will join a young Ariel alongside some very familiar characters such as King Triton, Ursula, Sebastian, Flounder, and many more new characters. Disney Junior’s Ariel is set to debut on Disney platforms worldwide in 2024! While there isn’t a set premiere date yet, fans should get excited for another look into the below-ground world that Ariel lives in.

The show is set in the “fantastical Caribbean-inspired underwater kingdom of Atlantica, the series turns on Ariel and her fun-filled, action-packed mermaid adventures with her friends. Ariel discovers land treasures, like a big floppy hat, squeaky rubber ducky, and whisk, that she collects and keeps safe in her crystal cavern.”

As of now, there is no word regarding the cast of the show but Culturess will let you know when we receive that information. Until the release date and the cast details are announced, this is the perfect time to go see Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid, which is in theaters now.
