4. “Begin Again”

I’ll be honest and say that upon my first listen, “Begin Again” was much lower on my list. Upon my relisten though, I have to say that it bumped up my list. With that being said, I can see why others wouldn’t have it as high. However, as the second single from Red’s original run, this one makes sense.

While most of Red focused on breakups, having fun, and the reality of things, “Begin Again” is such a romantic song. If there’s a word I could use to describe it, I’d say “fizzy” because it feels like those butterflies in your stomach moment. It’s when you’re getting a crush after dealing with a jerk.

I do appreciate that it was featured on Red as a single yet I could even see “Begin Again” being featured on Lover. That’s a talk for another day though but coming in at #4 on my list is “Begin Again.”

3. “22”

Going into the top three, I wanted to save some heavy hitters and to me, one of the biggest songs from Red is easily “22.” I know that not everyone will feel the same but I mean she kinda made turning 22 cool. Even though the song is more about having a terrible 21st birthday and year, this song changed the game.

With that being said, this is another one that’s just sparkly and fun. It’s all about turning 22, having fun with your friends, and just enjoying being young. I feel like even if you’re not 22, you can still relate to it. I mean for goodness’ sake, she’s still wearing the shirt in the video during the Eras tour.

I mean once the chorus hits, you’ll want to sing, jump around, and dance. It’s pretty much law as a Taylor Swift fan. All joking aside, “22” is such a defining single of the Red era that it couldn’t go any lower than #3 on my list.
