4. “Ours”

Moving onto my #4 pick, I decided to go with “Ours.” Even though this one was a single, it was the final one from Speak Now and was part of the deluxe version. Regardless, I do feel like it’s a more elevated version of “Mine.”

To me, this song is such a sweet and fun song about being in love. While people might not agree with your relationship, you still have each other. I feel like this album doesn’t have as many light and fun songs so “Ours” fits the bill. I feel like this song just sparkles and makes you remember that feeling of puppy love and having a love that is just for you and your partner.

“Ours” might not be the most memorable of Taylor’s singles from this era yet I remember listening to it over and over again so I knew I had to at least put it close to the middle. Plus as a bonus track, I wasn’t sure how high it might be ranked so I’m almost at the middle of my list.

3. “Sparks Fly”

With that being said, we’re in the middle of my rankings and this might be a controversial pick but I’m going with “Sparks Fly.” I know that this song had a lot of history behind it as we first heard her singing it and then she didn’t release a studio version or the longest. Finally, we got it on Speak Now.

As amazing as the lyrics are and how sweepingly romantic it feels, I wish I had a more country song. I’d like to see her slow it down a bit yet I can’t deny it’s a great song. Who doesn’t love the lyrics: “Drop everything now/meet me in the pouring rain/ kiss me on the sidewalk/Take away the pain.” I mean you can’t deny those are some great lyrics and are ones I’m sure my fellow Taylor Swift fans remember singing over and over again.

“Sparks Fly” is a great song, but I feel like it was a little too overhyped back in the day and it didn’t live up to my expectations. Once again, I’m super excited to see current Taylor’s take on this one when she re-records Speak Now.
