Romance is my favorite book genre yet fantasy romance is one subgenre I don’t tend to pick up but upon hearing the pitch for Bewitched by Laura Thalassa, I was all over it.

If you recognize that author’s name, you’ll know her as the writer of books such as Rhapsodic, her Four Horsemen series, and her Fallen World books. All in all, she’s a very popular romance writer and one I’ve heard recommended dozens of times.

While I was excited about her previous books, I was nervous so when Bloom Books sent me an ARC and an undeniable pitch, there was no way I wasn’t picking it up. I’d also like to thank Bloom Books for sending me an ARC because it introduced me to Laura Thalassa and her writing.

If you’re looking for a new Laura Thalassa to enjoy or the “my wife” energy is your vibe, then you’re going to adore Bewitched.

Bewitched by Laura Thalassa is a page-turning fantasy romance.

As I said, I’m not one for fantasy romance but upon hearing the pitch for Bewitched, I knew I had to pick it up. This story follows Selene who is a college student and a witch but with an unlikely aliment. The use of her magic causes her to have severe memory loss which causes her to get wrapped in a lot of things including releasing Memnon the Cursed and possibly being arrested for murder.

While I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, this book is so action-packed and fast that you won’t want to put it down. For the majority of the book, we’re trying to find out who is murdering witches and why Selene always tends to be around when it happens. Honestly, that plotline had me on the edge of my seat.

However, the introduction of Memnon the Cursed thinking Selene is his long-lost wife who betrayed him was everything I wanted. Memnon was so obsessed with Selene and this man gave off major “my wife” energy. If you’re a romance reader, you’ll know exactly what I mean but this book was the ultimate push-and-pull for these two characters.

While Selene wants to hate Memnon, she can’t help but be attracted to him while Memnon is trying to get Selene to believe she’s his wife. These two had the most intense chemistry and the way they bickered yet couldn’t keep their hands off each other, had me sweating. Honestly, I’m happy we’re getting more books about these two because oh boy, I loved them.

One thing I do think people might not love about Bewitched is that this book ends on a massive cliffhanger and I wanted to throw my book because it felt like everything was resolved until the last few pages. Let’s just hope we get a release date for the second book ASAP because I need it in my hands.

Overall though, I adored Bewitched and I’m happy to say I’m going to dive into Laura Thalassa’s backlist ASAP. Even if you’re not normally a fantasy romance reader like me, I highly recommend this book as it’s intense, fast-paced, and sexy which is what we all love in romances.
