PlayStation is keeping things low-key for the Essential tier members for another month. This is honestly fine because we’re keeping ourselves busy with the Resident Evil 4 Remake, so a quieter month is okay by us.

Here are your free games for April for the PlayStation Plus Essential tier:

  • Meet Your Maker
  • Sackboy: A Big Adventure
  • Tails of Iron

Meet Your Maker is coming to the PlayStation Plus Essential tier on its day one release, which is exciting! It’s a post-apocalyptic first-person building and raiding game. Each level is designed by other users, which is a creative twist. You can team up with a friend or play solo and either build your own levels or take on someone else’s. It’s a cool enough concept for us to want to check it out.

Next up is Sackboy: A Big Adventure, which was one of the few titles that launched with the PlayStation 5. It’s a LittleBigPlanet spinoff that gives the series a Super Mario 3D World vibe. It’s incredibly charming and cute, with levels made out of cardboard cutouts and household objects, and the music is top-notch and fits the aesthetic, too.

This is also a great title if you have kids that want to play video games with you, and it supports couch co-op!

Last is Tails of Iron, which is a side-scrolling RPG that’s hand-drawn. You play as Redgi, heir to the rat throne, and are on a mission to restore your broken kingdom. The melee combat will have you cursing and gripping your controller harder than ever.

Honestly, the quieter month of games is a bit of a relief. With Resident Evil 4 Remake just released and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releasing at the end of April (and Tears of the Kingdom in early May), we’re not sure how we’ll have the time to play everything we want!

You can still download March’s free games until April 3 if you haven’t already.
