Peter Griffin of Family Guy, Homer Simpson of The Simpsons, and Bob Belcher of Bob’s Burgers converse at Bob’s restaurant, just three TV dads hanging out.  It seems like the ultimate crossover goal for animation, as it brings three of the longest-running smash comedies together.

Well, the Family Guy/Bob’s Burgers/The Simpsons crossover event is happening, and it will happen this Sunday, March 12th, on Fox.

Before Peter enters the restaurant, his wife Lois recounts her dream, which Peter is less than fazed about.  To end his discomfort, he slowly and silently slips out, passing his friends Quagmire, Joe, and Cleveland, and ends up at Bob’s Burgers.  There, he reunites with Homer Simpson and questions why there are two sets of menu prices.

One is the “Emmy Winner” discount,” explains Bob.  Bob’s Burgers and The Simpsons won Emmys for “Outstanding Animated Program,” while Family Guy was nominated.  Hence the reason why Peter ordered black coffee and toast.

Peter and Homer met in 2014 when Family Guy and The Simpsons did an hourlong crossover episode, “The Simpsons Guy.”  In the episode, the Griffin family gets stalled in Homer’s hometown of Springfield, and hilarious shenanigans occur when the two families meet.  It’s even funnier to see Homer and Peter test their intellect on each other.

Now Homer barely acknowledges Peter in the restaurant as he munches down on his burger.  He’s Homer, after all.

With this crossover, The Simpsons crossover, and the crossover with Seth McFarlane’s other two animated sitcoms, American Dad (currently airing on TBS) and the canceled spinoff, The Cleveland Show, will there be more crossovers this season or in the future for Family Guy?

Showrunner, Rich Appel, explained the potential to Entertainment Weekly,

“We don’t have any more crossover appearances planned, but we reserve the right to change our minds if a new Fox animated show premieres and is a huge hit, and we feel that shoehorning one of its characters into our show could bring us even the slightest bit of reflected glory.”

All three comedies have been renewed for an additional two seasons for the 2023-2025 Fox schedule.  The Simpsons will surpass the 800th episode mark at the end of season thirty-six.
