Are banks open today? (Presidents’ Day 2023)
We’ve officially made it to another holiday, one of the first in 2023! Today marks Presidents’ Day, when people across the country honor and celebrate the past presidents in our history. It is commemorated every third Monday of February, also known as Washington’s Birthday. Many establishments will be closing their doors today as are companies, with millions having a paid day off. But what about banks? Can you still head over to your local bank to cash checks or take out a loan?
Most government offices, U.S. post offices, public libraries, and schools will be closed today for Presidents’ Day, though there are always exceptions with some locations. For the bank, it’s been reported that most locations will be off today for the holiday, while a select few companies will still open their doors.
Are the banks closed on Presidents’ Day?
Banks such as TD Bank will open their doors today on Presidents’ Day, while other popular banks like Chase Bank, Citibank, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo are all set to be closed. Local banks will likely be closed as well. Taking in all of this information, it really depends on which bank you go to, so we’d recommend you call ahead to your location to double-check before making the trip out. If you’re unable to call ahead, we’d probably just assume your bank is closed today, simply because most of them are.
All banks are set to open up their doors again tomorrow, February 21, if you can wait until then to make your trip.
We won’t have a federal holiday in the United States again until May with Memorial Day Weekend, so we’re sure you’ll have plenty of time to run errands uninterrupted after today!
