Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, I wanted to feature a book with some elements related to the holiday. Coupled with the fact that it was a recent read, In Bloom by Allie Keane was an easy choice.

Looking at some of my picks for #TBRTrending so far, I haven’t featured much LGBT+ romance so now is the time. In particular, I feel like we rarely get f/f romances and that’s exactly what In Bloom is.

If you couldn’t tell by the title, flowers are also a huge part of the story and are part of the reason why our two heroines meet each other. As flowers and gifting flowers are such a huge part of the Valentine’s Day season, I thought it only right.

Plus I feel like a lot of us are trying to broaden our horizons when it comes to the different types of representation we’re reading. In Bloom by Allie Keane had to make the cut because of that and more.

In Bloom by Allie Keane is an early Valentine’s #TBRTrending pick.

If you’re looking for something soft and sweet for Valentine’s Day, then In Bloom might be exactly what you need. That’s not to say there aren’t a few steamy scenes, but there are yet this book was more about romance.

In Bloom follows Erica who works at her aunt’s flower shop and is tasked with delivering flowers to Catherine’s bridal shop. Upon meeting, the two just have a feeling about each other and each time they interact, it becomes unavoidable until they end up going out on a few dates and a bit more.

While I don’t want to give too much away as this is fairly short, I will say that I feel like it was a bit rushed but I did enjoy the romance, the conflicts Erica and Catherine were dealing with, and how everything wrapped up in the end. It made all of those little conflicts feel like they were worth some of the moments where you wanted to shake the characters.

If you’re just looking for tropes, you might be surprised to know that this is an age-gap romance as Catherine is over a decade older than Erica. These two are in such different places in their lives yet they make it work. While it’s pretty low-angst and low-stakes, this one is a quick and fun read.

It’s also a good one if you’re looking to utilize your Kindle Unlimited subscription as it’s on there. In Bloom is also on audiobook too so you have no excuse to not pick it up this month.
