Will Hulu’s Reboot be given another chance elsewhere?
There is something to be said about a show featuring a reboot called Reboot. As a Hulu original, the show was an absolute delight.
Featuring a stellar cast of names like Johnny Knoxville, Judy Greer, Keegan-Michael Key, and Calum Worthy, the series was equal parts funny yet pretentious. However, everything was played in a fun way.
Yes, Reboot took itself seriously but also made fun of itself, too. As a debut series in 2022, I really enjoyed the series. It felt refreshing in a world of, well, reboots. With how Season 1 ended as well, I’m sure all of us hoped for a Season 2.
Sadly, the show was given the axe by Hulu which was surprising. The series seemed to be beloved by those who watched and critics alike.
Could Reboot step, right up to a spot at another streaming service?
As someone who watched the series and loved it, I will say that I’m not happy about this decision. I know Hulu doesn’t always have the best original programming yet this felt like a breath of fresh air to me. It just doesn’t make sense why the streaming platform would cancel it like this.
However, I’m not the only one upset as star Johnny Knoxville also shared his thoughts, “It’s with a heavy heart that I say that despite getting great reviews and being nominated for a critics choice award, Hulu has failed to pick up ‘Reboot’ even for a second season” I must agree with him but he continues by saying: “It’s not over yet though, as we tend to shop it around and hopefully it will find a home with a studio who believes in and knows how to properly support a new show as it continues to grow.”
Personally, I have to say that I do think Johnny Knoxville is right. On the whole, Reboot had a lot of fans and was loved by critics. In a lot of ways, I feel like the casting was so spot-on and brought together a group of actors who meshed so well together. It was the perfect blend of old and new while still feeling fresh.
Like Knoxville said, they are shopping this one around and I do think another streaming platform will pick it up. There are so many options now including Paramount+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, and Netflix. Between those options though, I will say that Netflix feels like the best fit but for now, all we can hope for is Reboot being picked up.
Regardless at least, we still have the glorious Season 1 of Reboot to look back on. On the whole, the show was fun and sometimes, that’s what you need.
Do you think Reboot will be given a second chance? Which streaming service do you think will pick it up? Let us know in the comments.
