Woo-hoo!  Fox has renewed their animated sitcoms, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers all have been renewed for an additional two seasons.   As per The Simpsons showrunner Al Jean’s wish, there will be over 800 episodes.

The Simpsons will go into seasons 35-36, Family Guy into 22-23, and Bob’s Burgers into 14-15, respectively.  With these renewals, the animation trio will head right through 2025.  For The Simpsons, the series has taken a subtle, if dramatic, turn regarding episode deliverance in the last couple of years.  For instance, the 2022 edition of Treehouse of Horror reached record ratings, thanks to the writers’ creative visions of Westworld, Babadook, and the Japanese anime Death Note.

Currently, there are over 700 episodes of The Simpsons, and Family Guy has aired 400.  Being the “youngest” of the three, Bob’s Burgers has a current episode number of 248.  Together, they rule Sunday’s Fox’s “Animation Domination” block.

In a statement first obtained by TVLine, Fox Entertainment President of Scripted Programming Michael Thorn gave the following news:

“Three-plus decades of The Simpsons, more than two decades of Family Guy, and over a decade of Bob’s Burgers proves the enduring power of the animation genre on our network and the infinite fan affinity for these outrageously funny comedy classics.”

The history behind The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers

The Simpsons first began as a segment on The Tracy Ullman Show in 1987, then got their own series in 1989.  Family Guy premiered after the Super Bowl in 1999, and Bob’s Burgers first opened its restaurant doors in 2011.  Since then, the families experienced some iconic moments, including meeting one another.

Over the years, the three shows garnered legions of fans and have taken that dedication to a new level.  As a thank-you for the fan dedication, The Simpsons producers decided to wrap an entire episode on Stephen King’s “It,” with the Krusty the Clown as Pennywise crossover tattoos for the inspiration.  The episode aired a week before Treehouse of Horror XXXIII.

Two other Fox animated sitcoms, The Great North and HouseBroken, also have been renewed for another season.
