Is the USPS (United States Postal Service) open on New Year’s Eve?

New Year’s Eve is upon us, which means we’re saying goodbye to 2022 and hello to 2023. People all over the world are getting ready for their end-of-year celebrations, with food, fireworks, and all sorts of other fun stuff to do. Yet, while some people are getting ready to blow out the year in a big way, it’s important to remember that places are still open.

People are still working, and things still need to be done and you may be one of those people. So if you’re running around on New Year’s Eve looking to finish off your year-end checklist, you may have a need to stop by the United States Post Office (USPS) to have a package shipped.

Maybe you’re hoping to get a gift delivered, one that was supposed to have been delivered already perhaps, or maybe one that was delayed in getting to you. Either way, you’re probably somebody who needs to know if the USPS is open and operating on New Year’s Eve.

The USPS is open on New Year’s Eve, but…

If you’re only in need of finding out if the mail will be delivered, don’t fret, it will be. Mail will be delivered as usual on New Year’s Eve. So don’t worry about that. Yet, if you’re dropping off mail in one of the USPS’s blue mailboxes, keep in mind that they’re going to have early pick-up on New Year’s Eve. Most blue mailboxes will have their contents picked up by noon.

So keep that in mind.

As for the post offices themselves, they’ll be open as well, but the USPS website suggests checking their hours of operation, as some will have adjusted times due to the pending holiday. So as long as you get started early, you should be able to get all your shipping needs met.
