Trying to bank on New Year’s Eve? Will you be able to?

It is the end of the year, and that usually means catching up on life after Thanksgiving, Christmas, college football bowl season, and the beginning of the NFL Playoffs. Not to mention school recitals, vacations, and coming up with new reasons to avoid that one relative. It’s a hectic time for most people.

Getting behind on the household chores list is not uncommon. So if you’re someone who has put off the usual day-to-day stuff and needs to catch up on things, you may just say “screw it” and go out on the morning of New Year’s Eve to get things done.

Why not? The first of the month is coming up, and while that’s a holiday for some, it’s also the day a lot of bills go out. So clearly you’re going to want to have your finances in order, so would a trip to the bank even be possible with the holiday right around the corner?

Are banks open on New Year’s Eve?

Planning on going to the bank on New Year’s Eve? Well, you’re going to be in luck, because yes, the bank is open. The bank will not have any unusual hours on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022. But remember, it’s a Saturday, so it will have pre-adjusted hours.

Most banks on Saturday close around noon or 2 PM local time already. So if you’re hoping to get to the bank on New Year’s Eve, you’re going to have to plan accordingly. Also keep in mind, that if you don’t make it to the bank on Saturday, New Year’s Day will not be much better.

The banks would be closed for the holiday anyway, but as it’s a Sunday, they’re going to be double-closed, if that’s possible. So you’ll have to wait until Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, to do your banking if you missed out on New Year’s Eve.
