Does mail get delivered on Christmas? (Is there mail on Christmas?)
By Chad Porto
Will you get mail delivered on Christmas Day?
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. It’s the time that brings people together for a variety of reasons and for an assortment of events. Gift exchanges, dinners, celebrations, and heck, even some birthdays. It’s a truly fun time of the year for many people, even if they don’t celebrate. But the one thing that seemingly goes hand in hand with all things Christmas is the concept of a gift exchange.
Whether it’s a Yankee Shop, Secret Santa, or just a good old-fashioned gift-giving situation, it’s a pretty big deal. One way people go about giving gifts is through delivery. These days shipping gifts are among the most common forms of giving gifts to one another. So that means a heavy reliance on the United States Postal Service and the good folks who personally deliver mail on a near-daily basis.
So if you’re someone who is waiting on a last-second package to arrive, you may be wondering if it’ll get shipped and delivered on Dec. 25. Well, if you’ve gone through Christmas Eve and you still haven’t gotten your package, you’re going to have to be a bit more patient.
Is there mail today? (December 25, 2022)
See, the United States Postal Service doesn’t deliver on Christmas. At least normally, there may be extreme examples but by and large, the mail isn’t delivered on the 25 of December. And since Dec. 25 is on a Sunday this year, that means the mail wouldn’t be delivered anyway, as the USPs is closed on Sundays.
Thankfully for you, since Christmas is on a Sunday this year, you won’t have to wait too long for your mail service to return to normal. It’ll be back up and running on Monday, Dec. 26. Some years when Christmas lands on Saturday, the United States Postal Service will be off for two days straight, but that isn’t an issue this year.
