Does mail get delivered on Thanksgiving? (Is there mail on Thanksgiving?)
By FanSided
They deliver in rain, sleet, snow and slush, but the United States Post Office will not deliver mail on Thanksgiving Day. Though the holiday lands on a Thursday, mail will not be delivered on the holiday and all postal locations will be closed.
If you’re hoping to receive a package that’s due near Thanksgiving, be sure to check the tracking information because all deliveries will be put on hold until the following business day, which happens to be Black Friday.
UPS and FedEx will also take the day off, and this includes all levels of service, from basic ground to overnight delivery.
Amazon Prime members should plan to receive their packages on Black Friday rather than Thanksgiving Day, which should be factored in if you’re ordering food for dinner from Amazon or Whole Foods. Nothing will be delivered on Thanksgiving Day even though Amazon has an exclusive deal with USPS to deliver on certain holidays.
Another thing to consider is that if you do any online shopping on either Wednesday or Thanksgiving Day, don’t expect to see your package on Friday even though you received free one-day shipping from the store. Most one-day shipping includes one business day for packaging, and since Thanksgiving Day is not a business day you will need to factor in the additional day when determining the arrival date.
