With the year almost at its end, a lot of us are trying to read as many books as we can. One book you should pick up is Sweet Talkin’ Lover by Tracey Livesay.

If that author’s name seems familiar, it’s because she had a very popular book come out in 2022 and that was American Royalty. While most people were introduced to Livesay through that novel, she actually has another series and that’s her Girls Trip series.

Currently, there are only two books out in the series, but I’m hoping we’ll eventually get the rest of the books sometimes soon. Heck, any news about the series would be great as American Royalty has seemingly blown up so it’s clear Tracey Livesay has a lot going on.

Regardless if you’re looking to read more of her backlist, this week’s #TBRTrending pick has your name all over it.

This week’s #TBRTrending pick is Sweet Talkin’ Lover by Tracey Livesay.

First published in 2019, Sweet Talkin’ Lover is book 1 in Tracey Livesay’s Girls Trip series, and frankly, what a way to start off the series. As evidenced by the series name, each book follows a different woman from a group of best friends who attend a yearly girls’ trip and their individual romances.

The first book follows Caila who is a successful marketing manager who has a slight fall-from-grace but for good reason. Upon getting drunk in the company of her higher-ups, Caila is sent to a small town on a mission to help shut down a beloved factor that is responsible for over half of the town’s jobs. Of course, that’s how she ends up meeting the hero, Wyatt who is the mayor of the town.

Let’s be real, this book does slightly sound like a Hallmark movie, but it’s so much more than that. There is so much character growth for Caila and Wyatt both as individuals and in their relationship. While I do think the book was a bit overdramatic as small-town romances can be, this one was a lot of fun.

Plus with the title Sweet Talkin’ Lover, you know this book had its fair share of steamy scenes and boy were they delightful. As someone who doesn’t love small-town romances, I’m surprised how much this book worked for me and how much I ended up loving it. It was actually a 4.5-star read for me which is high praise.

With that all being said, if you enjoyed American Royalty, then you need to get your hands on Sweet Talkin’ Lover and eventually move on with book 2 which is Like Lovers Do. Like American Royalty, this book also features a Black heroine and a white love interest if you enjoyed that pairing. Overall as someone who loves Tracey Livesay and her books, this one is a high recommendation from me.
