Did you know there are two National Donut Days? If you didn’t know, then you aren’t the only one.

A lot of us recall National Donut Day taking place in June and that’s true. However, there is also a lesser-known National Donut Day celebrated on November 5th. While it’s unclear if it’s an officially recognized day, there’s never a bad day to have a donut.

One subject you might not associate with donuts is romance books. In particular, donuts have been a major player in the romance world within the past few years. While there are plenty of books with a focus on donuts, one stands above the rest.

For me, that book is easily Donut Fall In Love by Jackie Lau. If you’re looking for a new read on National Donut Day, this one is a sure winner.

Donut Fall In Love by Jackie Lau will hit the spot no matter the day.

As you might imagine, donuts play a huge role in Donut Fall In Love. However, the book actually follows a donut-shop owner named Lindsay who has a disastrous meet-cute with Ryan, a sexy movie star. The two eventually get over their misunderstanding and Ryan enlists Lindsay to help him before a celebrity baking competition.

As the title alludes to, donuts play a huge role in the story. The two actually meet because Ryan knocks over two dozen donuts and it goes from there. However, the descriptions of said donuts sound absolutely delightful. While other foods are mentioned, donuts end up being a huge part of the story and will make you crave one before the end.

Aside from the cute title and cover, the book doesn’t shy away from heavier topics either. In particular, both characters are dealing with parental issues. Ryan’s dealing with the grief of losing his mother and his father not understanding him. Then for Lindsay, she’s dealing with the grief of losing her father. All in all, this book doesn’t skirt over hard topics but it makes the romance all the more rewarding.

If that wasn’t enough to sell you, Donut Fall In Love is also set in Canada as Jackie Lau is a Canadian author. If you’re in the market for a Canadian romance, then Jackie Lau is the author to go to. This is also a relatively low-angst and low-stakes romance which she is known for so it’s perfect for a chilly November day.
