Ann Aguirre’s Fix-It Witches series is an October must
Within the last few years, witchy romance books have really blown up. In particular, The Fix-It Witches series by Ann Aguirre has garnered tons of attention.
If the author’s name seems familiar, you might have dove into one of her other series. Before writing The Fix-It Witches series, Aguirre wrote the Razorland series along with the 2B Trilogy among many others. Simply put, Ann Aguirre has written a lot of books.
However, this witchy series published by Sourcebooks Casablanca is definitely a fall favorite among romance readers. Thus far, there have been two books published: Witch Please and then the sequel Boss Witch. The next book is set to be released on October 4th, 2022, and is entitled Extra Witchy.
With Halloween upon us, it’s only right to recommend this delightfully witchy romance series for some fall reading.
The Fix-It Witches series by Ann Aguirre is perfect as a light Halloween read.
October is the perfect time to dive into some witchy romance books and none are better than Ann Aguirre’s The Fix-It Witches series. Starting off with the first book, Witch Please is a book focusing on one half of the Fix-It Witches duo, Danica who begins a romance with the local baker, Titus. Boss Witch follows the other half of the duo, Clem who ends up having an enemies-to-lovers romance with a witch hunter, Gavin.
As for the most recent release, Extra Witchy follows a marriage-of-convenience of sorts between Leanne and Trevor. While Leanne isn’t part of the Fix-It Witches store, she is part of their coven and everything about her story is unlike anything we’ve seen before. Firstly, these two main characters are unlike the usual type of “romantic partners.” Leanne is a career woman who is running for city council and Trevor ends up becoming her househusband who really doesn’t have much ambition at the start of the book.
However as the story unfolds, we watch as they start to grow together both as people and as a couple. For Leanne, she has to come to terms with some events from her past while Trevor has to figure out what path he wants for his life. Overall, it was nice to see these two having a real relationship and seeing them work on themselves and their relationship which a lot of us can relate to.
The only issue I had with the story was that the ending felt a bit rushed. Everything seemed to wrap up neatly in a bow without much angst. However for some readers, that’s the perfect draw as there are some heavy topics in each book but they are still light and fun, too. Even so, the books also contain some pretty steamy sex scenes, too especially Leanne and Trevor’s wedding night.
For me, The Fix-It Witches series is a comfort read. The books aren’t too long, the magic isn’t too complicated, the characters are likable and the romances are great. Frankly, if you enjoy witchy books and want something low-angst, then this series needs to be on your October TBR.
