What’s new in October 2022 for Xbox Games with Gold members
For Xbox Games with Gold members, October brings about a huge change in the service. Starting this month, you no longer have four free games.
That’s right, you’ll no longer have two free Xbox 360 games each month. Microsoft cited portability issues for many of the remaining games and how it wouldn’t be to a standard they want.
Does this mean Games with Gold is on its way out the door? Will we see Microsoft making a bigger push toward Game Pass for players? We’ll have to wait and see what the future holds and how subscribers take to this adjustment.
Here are your games for October and the dates they’re available to download:
- Windbound, October 1 to 31
- Bomber Crew: Deluxe Edition, October 15 to November 14
October highlights for Xbox Games with Gold members
Windbound is a fun mix of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Moana, but not like Wind Waker. You play as Kara and are washed ashore on a mysterious island with nothing but your knife and the will to survive. You’ll need to harvest materials and craft better tools to keep yourself alive. Explore the island and try to find other surviving members of your tribe.
The plot is relatively thin and the survival mechanics are almost too much to deal with, so you may find it a little tough to keep going at times.
Your other game for October is Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition. It’s a strategy simulation where you have to fly and man the crew of a World War II bomber plane. Honestly, it almost turns into a puzzle game, as you have to perform everything all at once.
That means you’re coordinating all of your players. So if you need to drop a bomb, you need to open the bay doors first. And if you don’t open them fast enough, you’re losing precious time. Add that on top of keeping fires in check and reviving downed crewmates. If you’re a strategy game player, this one is right up your alley.
You still have a chance to download one of September’s games (Double Kick Heroes) through October 14th.
