How did the fourth season of Good Trouble end?
“This Is Not My Beautiful House” brought Good Trouble’s fourth season to a close. After a season’s worth of drama, everything came to a head for the Coterie residents as they dealt with some of their most significant conflicts.
For Davia and Dennis, it has been a long-time coming. Their relationship has developed from unlikely friends to the romantic dynamic they had formed over time. Rather than create another obstacle in the way of them getting together, “This Is Not My Beautiful House” finally had Davia and Dennis be on equal footing, in the same place at the same time, and ready to move forward with a romantic relationship.
Malika made a significant stride forward in her personal and professional beliefs when she joined a protest to allow the unhoused community to have their land for longer rather than forcing them to move immediately. Malika even seemed to inspire her boss to look at things from an activist perspective rather than a political one to see that it takes action for the world to change.
Alice’s personal growth reaches an exciting high point when she takes Sumi’s audition spot for a movie. Alice has been hoping for a role in the film, hoping it could be a breakout way to show her comedy talents. But, when she finally reaches the audition, it becomes about so much more.
As Alice contemplates the movie role, and the film itself, Alice realizes she may not want the part at all as it is not something she wants to perpetuate. Refusing to move forward on something Alice does not wish to do, she stands up for herself and leaves the audition. Alice’s personal growth and development have been a long story arc for the character, and this is a moment that shows just how far she has come since the series premiere.
Gael and Isabella’s questions regarding what to do about their baby finally get a solid answer. At least, early on, they do. Gael’s sister Jazmin and her husband agree to co-parent the baby with Gael. Isabella initially agrees, seemingly accepting the offer of a pairing with financial and emotional stability, something she had already claimed to want for the baby. But, unfortunately, things take a turn by the end.
After giving birth to their newborn baby at the Coterie, Isabella is in awe of the child and admits to wanting to keep her. So, what does that mean for Gael and his relationships with Isabella and Jazmin? First, Jazmin was thrilled about being a mother, and now Isabella’s change of heart has the potential to make things far more complicated, especially if she commits to her decision.
Will Isabella’s legal troubles with her father become an issue again if her parents discover her intent to keep the baby? Good Trouble’s season 4 finale does not have time to answer all those questions, though, because there is one significant cliffhanger it needs to address.
Season 5 would be an excellent time for Callie to make another appearance as Mariana had decided to pull a Callie move by visiting the farm. Mariana had good intentions by visiting, wanting to find Joaquin’s sister, Jenna, and tell her the truth about Silas to hopefully get her away from the cult, especially since Joaquin has a restraining order.
Callie is not a stranger to impulsive and dangerous choices, having pulled many of her own throughout The Fosters. So, her reaction to learning what Mariana had done would likely be a thrilling conversation.
Good Trouble’s season 4 finale sees Mariana the following day of her decision. She is stuck on the farm waiting for Jenna and entirely aware of the dangers that follow her choices. However, Mariana is determined and will not leave until she speaks to Jenna.
Luckily, Mariana’s conversation with Jenna does not take any convincing. Finally, Jenna is ready to leave and willingly has Mariana break her out of her room to escape the farm. As they run, Mariana and Jenna bump into Joaquin, who has traveled up to the farm with Evan to find Mariana.
As the three of them rush to escape, there is one last thing to worry about. A bullet is shot from a gun in their direction. Does it hit anyone? Good Trouble does not reveal that in its finale. Instead, it is left open-ended with several questions heading into season 5.
