Labor Day Weekend is upon us which means it’s that time again when we head to Google in hopes of finding the list of what stores are closed on Labor Day before we head out to do a bit of shopping. After all, many stores close their doors on select federal holidays which can make it difficult to know which stores observe which holidays.

What grocery stores are closed on Labor Day? (2023)

The only major grocery store chain that is not expected to be open on Labor Day this year is Costco, which will be closed on Labor in celebration of the holiday. Costco is one of the rare larger chains that frequently closes its doors on holidays so that its employees can enjoy the day off.

If you’re hoping to spend your Labor Day doing a bit of shopping at your favorite stores, you’re in luck! While some larger stores such as Walmart and Target close their doors for some holidays, Labor Day is not a holiday recognized by many retailers.
