Rihanna has reached billionaire status
First, there was Kylie, now there is Rihanna.
Forbes has released its annual list of America’s richest self-made women and Rihanna, 34, has made the cut in the 21st position and has been given the title of America’s youngest self-made billionaire. The title was previously given to Kylie Jenner but removed after additional financial data was released. Rihanna also stands as the only billionaire under 40 on the list.
Although Rihanna’s last album, Anti, was released in 2016, her 8 album collection, 9 Grammy Awards, and successful music career have propelled her to expand beyond music, creating makeup and clothing brands in the process. Her companies – Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, and Savage X Fenty – have allowed her to reach billionaire status.
With her earnings, Rihanna created a fund that aims to “support and fund groundbreaking education and climate resilience initiatives”. The Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) has created initiatives that have collected $60 million for women and children affected by HIV/Aids and have helped donate $15 million to 18 different climate justice groups.
In 2019, she said in an interview about her career earnings: “My money is not for me; it’s always the thought that I can help someone else. The world can really make you believe that the wrong things are priority, and it makes you really miss the core of life, what it means to be alive.”
Rihanna currently owns 30% of Savage X Fenty, which is currently worth $3 billion. Its value has increased since its reported $1 billion value in February 2021.
She also owns 50% of Fenty Beauty, which generated $550 million in revenue in 2020 and is reported to be worth $2.8 billion. Forbes reports that her earnings are primarily from Fenty Beauty and continue to project growth for the future.
In 2019, however, she told The New York Times ,“I never thought I’d make this much money, so a number is not going to stop me from working.”
