Forced proximity is an unmatched trope when it comes to romance readers.

Forced proximity is the ultimate trope as it’s essentially the characters ended up together as much as possible for some reason. The first queer book is a 2022 release, and that’s Love & Other Disasters by Anita Kelly. This is a romance between two people participating in a cooking competition. One is a woman, while the other is non-binary.

While this book is a steamy romance, the book also features a lot of character growth for our two main characters, London and Dahlia. There’s something about how the two are essentially forced together and can’t seem to keep their attraction under control. It’s just an absolute delight.

The other romance is Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake. This book follows Delilah, who is photographing her stepsister’s wedding, and it’s her return to her hometown but also falling in love with her stepsister’s friend, Claire. With the wedding as a backdrop, there are plenty of events in which Claire and Delilah are forced together.

Don’t let the cover fool you, as this book is incredibly steamy. It also features a lot of character growth and family dynamics if you’re looking for something that’s not exclusively romance.
