Crush (2022)

The most recent release to make the list, Crush, is Hulu’s answer to Heartstopper, coming out not long after the Netflix series was dropped. The film follows Paige (Rowan Blanchard) as she tries to create her portfolio for the prestigious art school CalArts. However, a misunderstanding leads to her joining the track team, where she’s faced with her crush, Gabriella (Isabella Ferreria), and her sister AJ (Auli’i Cravalho). As she spends more time with both girls, she comes to realize that her feelings might be more than a crush as she’s forced to choose between them.

This film is a good time, especially considering there aren’t romantic comedies about sapphic women. Crush takes all the classic romantic comedy cliches and employs them throughout the film, but they still feel fresh and new because of the queer context. In true rom-com fashion, this film promises hilarity, heart, and plenty of queer romance to enjoy during this Pride Month.
