Hallmark’s Color My World With Love stars Down Syndrome lead

The Hallmark Movies and Mysteries network is debuting a romance movie with two Down Syndrome leads.  The direction is to show that even people with disabilities can fall in love and be in a relationship.  Titled Color My World With Love, the movie’s storyline is centered around a young artist with Down Syndrome who meets a man, also with Down Syndrome, in a cooking class.  Shortly after, the two fall in love and begin a romance.

Never Have I Ever actress, Lily D. Moore, will star as Kendall who is described as “a talented artist with Down syndrome who creates beautiful paintings in the impressionist style that reflect the reality of her subjects as she sees them.”  

Thanks to Kendall’s mother Emma’s (Erica Durance) and grandmother Bev’s (Karen Kruper)  nurturing support, protection, and caring, the young woman is “happy” and is “thriving” in her life and the world is opened to her.

Moore has Down Syndrome herself, shared her perspective on her new film with Entertainment Tonight.

When she meets Brad (David DeSanctis), sparks ignite between the two, but her mother grows (naturally) concerned for her daughter and has objections about Kendall’s new relationship, especially when it speeds into a serious direction.  Emma fears that Kendall will only find heartbreak, but realizes (thanks to advice by a friend of Brad’s) that she must live her own life, according to her, even though that tribulation is going to be part of it.

What’s more that it’s not just Kendall who learns about this new life course, but her mother learns a few lessons from Kendall that are just as important.  With her daughter’s inspiration, Emma starts to see things beyond the surface and discovers a new and existing beauty.

And maybe discovers newfound love for herself.

Color My World With Love will premiere later this year.
