Lily Collins auditioned for a role in the original Gossip Girl series
Gossip Girl lives on to this day. But would anything be different if Lily Collins was on the original series?
Collins revealed while appearing on Sirus XM’s The Jess Cagle Show, that she tested for a role on the show. During the creation of the 2007 series, Collins tested for the role of Jenny Humphrey. On The Jess Cagle Show, she said, “I tested for Gossip Girl. I did. I did for Jenny. I did back in the day. “I got very close on that,” she said. “My life would’ve been so different. I mean, I would’ve moved to New York. I wouldn’t have been able to finish at my high school. I mean, I was 17 or something. Oh, I wanted it so badly.”
Jenny Humphrey was the younger sister of the show’s main character, Dan Humphrey, and the protagonist of the original book series, The It Girl. The role eventually went to Taylor Momsen.
While she currently stars in the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris, it also shines a light on other stars who auditioned for a role on the series during its inception. Marvel star Brie Larson revealed in a previous interview with Teen Vogue that she had an unsuccessful audition for a role in the series. Nina Dobrev has also revealed that she auditioned for a spinoff series of the original Gossip Girl that was later canceled.
The current HBO Max reboot is set to return for a second season on November 25 with new episodes set to debut each week.
