Alyssa Milano

Another actress who has had a major impact on movements revolving around women’s rights and gender equality is Alyssa Milano. But the thing about Milano is that she has been an activist for almost her entire career.

In the 1980s, she made it a point to connect with Ryan White, the preteen who was at the time a face of the AIDS pandemic. She even went on national TV with White and kissed him on the cheek to prove the point that transmission could not happen through casual touch.

Over the years she has been a PETA advocate, helped in the efforts to stop the dog meat trade and save those dogs, and helped raise money for an organization that provided fresh drinking water to nations in need.

Basically, if there is a cause that Alyssa Milano can add her celebrity status to, she seems to do it. And she does it for no other reason than it is the right thing to do.

But perhaps the thing that she is best known for at this point is her work to relaunch the MeToo movement, which was originally started in 2006 by Tarana Burke. With Milano’s help, the MeToo movement truly got off the ground in 2017. And maybe it’s just me, but I love her for all of her activism.
