What’s new in March 2022 for PlayStation Plus members
PlayStation Plus subscribers continue to wait for whatever Sony’s answer to Xbox’s Game Pass will be. And rumors are running hotter now than last month, with Video Games Chronicle reporting that “Project Spartacus” is close to launching.
Project Spartacus supposedly has three tiers of subscriptions, up to $16 a month for the most expensive, which is above Game Pass and we don’t know what it will entail. But this is all speculation and the word of a journalist, so until anything is officially announced, we will just have to wait and see what Sony has in store for us.
In the meantime, below are your free games for March 2022:
- Ark: Survival Evolved
- Team Sonic Racing
- Ghostrunner
As a bonus for everyone this month, you also get free access to Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, which is the standalone version of the multiplayer co-op. Don’t mistake this for when they tried it with Godfall; the multiplayer for Ghost of Tsushima is surprisingly deep and incredibly fun.
If you’re a lucky PS5 owner, then you have access to Ghostrunner as a bonus as well, which was released in 2020. A cyberpunk-themed free-runner, this game cranks your speed up to 11 and makes you a deadly assassin to boot. The story is nothing groundbreaking—you don’t have any memory of who you are and you’re stuck in a power struggle between the rulers of the world and the resistance against them—but it doesn’t slow down the action. It’s a quick game, too, with the campaign clocking in at just under eight hours.
Ark: Survival Evolved is your survival/crafting game for the month. This one, however, has dinosaurs. You start on the shores of a mysterious island with absolutely nothing and must figure out how to survive among the beasts of the island. Kill, tame, or breed them, it’s up to you. Of course, the grinding in these kinds of games can get intense and Ark will make you hit a wall. But if you love crafting games and have yet to dive into this one, add it to your library.
Last up is Team Sonic Racing. This one isn’t too surprising when you realize Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hits theaters in March. In the market for a racing game that’s not Mario Kart? Team Sonic Racing will scratch that itch. It has fun team-based mechanics that give the races a creative twist: Keep your team as close together as possible to give yourselves an insane speed advantage. And it truly feels like it matters in the game. It’s something fun, something different, and leads to plenty of screaming if you’re playing couch co-op.
Give all of these games a download when they’re available starting March 1st—that is, if you aren’t filling your days with as much Elden Ring or Horizon Forbidden West as possible.
