These next two reading challenges are a bit newer but still a great help in 2022.

If you’re a fan of Booktube, then you’ll know who BooksandLala is. If you don’t know, then you are missing out. BooksandLala is an incredible booktuber named Kayla who originally started her “Buzzword” readathon as a way to read books with a certain “buzzword.” Eventually, it became a monthly reading challenge, and the “Buzzword Reading Challenge” was born.

There are two ways to participate. You can either do a week-long readathon at the beginning of the month where you only read books with the buzzword(s) in the title, or you just pick one book to read during the month. Some popular buzzwords that have been chosen for 2022 are “A book with a pronoun in the title (her, his, your, my…etc,) “A book with ALL in the title,” and “A book with ING in the title.” Honestly, it’s a lot of fun to try and find a book but also at times slightly difficult. So it makes for a unique challenge.

The other reading challenge could be fun if you’re a fan of the late Betty White or the Golden Girls. The Golden Girls Reading Challenge was created in 2022 and features a prompt to pick a book featuring something each month. To kick off the year, the featured topic was “Read a book with city/country name” This was about Rose from Golden Girls.

In addition, some of the other prompts include: “Read a book with girls in the title,” “Read a book that has a warm climate setting”, and “Read a historical fiction book not set in the US.” If you love Golden Girls and are a reader, then this one might be the perfect one for you.
