Is love in the air for Mountie Nathan Grant on When Calls the Heart?
Last season of When Calls the Heart ended on a sad note for the Mountie
When Calls the Heart fans (also known as Hearties) were divided last year over the man widow Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) would finally give her heart to. And many were heartbroken when she chose Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) as that meant Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) had been left out in the cold, so to speak. But spoilers for the upcoming season of the long-running Hallmark series which starts in February 2022 show the possibility of love for Nathan.
In a sneak peek shared on the Hallmark Channel, a new character is introduced to the series—Mei Suo, played by Amanda Wong. She and the Mountie share a slightly flirtatious greeting, and there does seem to be a spark of interest in Nathan’s eyes…and hers as well.
How much time has passed on When Calls the Heart season nine?
Knowing how much time has passed when the new season starts is a good indicator of whether Nathan is ready to put his feelings for Elizabeth behind him and move forward. When season eight ended last year, there was some speculation that Nathan and new doctor Faith Carter might spark a relationship. But Faith was/is in love with the town’s doctor Carson Shepherd, who just departed Hope Valley. She still has some healing to do, especially if Paul Greene, who plays Shepherd, decides not to return to the series.
Whatever season nine brings, fans are ready for Nathan to find his own happily ever after, and though we don’t much about Mei Suo, her addition to the cast is a welcome breath of fresh air. Not only will her appearance spark curiosity in the town, but it’s already sparked curiosity in the fans. And keeping Hearties on their toes is one thing When Calls the Heart does very well.
